West Michigan rubber group AND Detroit Rubber Group announce Joint Technical Symposium on september 7, 2011
East Lansing, MI, July 15, 2011:  The West Michigan Rubber Group and the Detroit Rubber Group announce their first ever Joint Technical Symposium, to be held at 1pm on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the University Club of Michigan State University/Henry Business Center, 3435 Forest Road, Lansing, MI 48909. 

The Joint Symposium will feature the following presentations:

  1. Developments and Current Status of Materials from Bio-Renewable Feedstock and Design for End of Life Options – Ramani Narayan, MSU Distinguished Professor

 

  1. 3D Rapid Prototyping Using Multi-Material Resins – Kevin Janson, DASI Solutions
  1. Improved Processing HNBR – Mark Jones, Zeon

 

  1. Opportunities for Sustainable Elastomers in the Automotive Industry – Cynthia Flanigan, Ford Motor Company
  1. Weatherstripping Using only TPV Materials - Shawn Jyawook, Jyco Sealing Technologies

 

  1. Batteries and Materials for Automotive/Transportation Industries – Kai Pelz, Johnson Controls

Also scheduled in addition to these presentations will be student chapters involved in rubber and chemicals from schools such as Michigan State University, Ferris State University and others, to learn more about them and create networking opportunities for internships and career employment.

Application Engineer

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:
Maintain presence at customer for availability
Build effective relationships with customer engineering, quality and plant personnel.
Support customer timing and requirements for program deliverables
Review, analyze and communicate all technical information to the appropriate FNGP product engineer and account manager with all supporting documentation (customer needed deliverables) required to generate component or systems design, sample, program guidelines, etc. and all required follow-up
Challenge from an “out-of-box” perspective both the customer and FNGP data to ensure best solution for both parties are being made
Maintain professional attitude when customer demands conflict with Freudenberg-NOK capabilities

Job Duties:
DESIGN
In conjunction with Freudenberg-NOK Manufacturing Facilities, and/or R&D Centers:
Make recommendations for quality improvements from analysis of warranty parts and data
Report results of field investigations and assembly teardowns
Work with associated Freudenberg-NOK and customer organizations (materials engineering; tribology and lubrication; CAE; program management; etc.)
Support component program management meetings with:
Maintenance of open issues list
Assist in formal problem resolution with Freudenberg-NOK plant quality personnel
Participate in cost-reduction initiatives and VA/VE

COMMUNICATION
As supplier representative, provide customer with pertinent Freudenberg-NOK contacts at laboratory or plant for design, manufacturing feasibility, quality or materials concerns
Arrange appropriate meetings of above
Relate Freudenberg-NOK business or product plans to customer as needed
Prompt reporting and follow-up of corrective actions to quality problems with Freudenberg-NOK product
Provide market information as provided via benchmarking
Provide catalyst to ensure correctness and timeliness of customer responses by eliminating communication roadblocks within capabilities of FNGP and customer
Insure timely response and liaison to customer requests including:
Quality issues
Test reports
Investigation reports

Job Requirements:
B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Manufacturing or equivalent)

Aggressive self-starter with strong organization skills and attention to details requiring minimal supervision
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical problem solving skills
Ability to multi-task
Hands-on mechanical aptitude
Project management experience a plus

ACCOUNT MANAGER - Automotive

Duties & Responsibilities:
Generate new and maintain current business consistent with company objectives
Work with customer engineering groups to interface with FNGP, FDS, NOK design/process engineering
Determine customer needs; document and communicate these needs internally – drive customer satisfaction
Develop and implement strategic account plans that are consistent with corporate/divisional objectives
Supports development & implementation of global customer strategies, product strategies and market segmentation strategies
Enhance FNGP image throughout customer organizations
Inter-divisional and global program coordination will require effective communication and coordination with FNGP functions or application engineering, marketing, quality, manufacturing, financials, purchasing, program management and sr. management as well as FDS and NOK contracts
Customer service value files/ Roadmaps, etc.
Price/contract/receivable negotiations, including resolution and documentation
Corporate Guardian – Police programs for best interest of customer and company
Build strong channels of communication and relationships with customers and within FNGP
Supervise cost reduction programs at major accounts

Our requirements:
Minimum Bachelor Degree – Engineering (preferred)
Analytical problem-solving skills
Basic understanding of the strategic planning process
Ability to work effectively and meet objectives without detailed day-to-day direction
Must be highly organized and flexible to handle multiple priorities
Ability to track long-range projects and objectives
Basic knowledge of FNGP products desired
Experience in the automotive industry; 3-5 years minimum
Sales/Marketing experience; 5 years minimum
MBA a plus
Strong negotiation skills
